View detailsHow to work out your differential gear ratio
Your axle gear ratio is how many times the driveshaft turns for every full turn of the tire. It is often printed on the axle tag, and some manufacturers encode it in the vehicle's VIN. If neither is available, count the teeth: the ratio is the number of teeth on the ring gear divided by the number of teeth on the pinion gear.
| Ring gear teeth / pinion gear teeth | 41 / 11 = 3.73 ratio |
|---|

Always match the ratio of the axle you are replacing, and on a tandem, match both axles to each other.
